Here are some prayers to get you started.

Our Father

Jesus taught his disciples how to pray to God the Father. (See Matthew 6:9-13, Luke 11:2-4)

Our Father Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come; Thy Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And, lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary

God chose a woman from the city of Nazareth named Mary to be the Mother of Jesus. As He hung from the Cross at the end of His earthly life, Jesus entrusted “the disciple whom He loved” to Mary. Mary is Mother to all of us. (See Luke 1:28, Luke 1:42, John 19:26)

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of death. Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The Memorare

An Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of their just punishments, but most of all because that they have offended You who are all powerful and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your Grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen.

Prayer given to the children at Fátima (Portugal)

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell; lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are in most need of Your mercy. Amen.

A Prayer of St. Teresa of Avila

Let nothing disturb me. Let nothing frighten me. All things are passing away, but God never changes. Patient endurance attains all things. Whoever has God lacks nothing, for God alone is sufficient. Amen.

A Morning Offering

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for our sins and those of the whole world. Amen.

Guardian Angel Prayer

The Canticle of Mary (The Magnificat)

Mary is the mother of Jesus. Her love for God was great and her heart was full after she learned that she would be the Mother of God. Here are the words of Mary’s response to her cousin Elizabeth once she recognized the special mission that God had for Mary’s life. Mary is the ultimate Girl Friday 4 God and we can pray these words along with her. (See Luke 1:46-55)

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon is handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him. He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart. He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped Israel his servant, remembering his mercy, according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”
